IIT Bombay suicide: Condolence meeting held; committee formed to investigate incident

IIT Bombay organised a gathering to express condolences next to the campus' main administrative building on Monday, one day after a student there committed suicide. The meeting honouring Darshan Solanki, a first-year B Tech student in the Chemical Engineering department, was attended by a number of students, staff members, and administrators. "Today, the Institute conducted a meeting to express condolences, during which two minutes of silence were observed in honour of the deceased. Although we cannot undo what has already occurred, we will continue to do our best efforts to stop similar incidents from happening in the future, the institute stated in a statement released shortly after the condolence gathering. A committee has been established to look into the occurrence, it was also said.
